My First Parade!

Hey everyone, I have a fun story for you! On Saturday, March 14, 2009 I went to Hillsboro, Oregon for my very first parade. It was the Murphy's St. Patricks Parade and there sure was alot of green! We arrived there at about 9:00 am and since judging started at 10:00 I had to hurry and get my hair, horse, clothes, and make-up ready while fighting the strong winds and rain. When everything was ready, I went down for my judging. When the announcement came out, I was tied for first. It turned out that when they re-tallied, the miniature horses that I had tied with, had won, but, hey, they were so cute! As the day went on, it seemed to get colder and colder. I stayed warm with help from my friends Lynn Haynes and Angie. I was wearing gloves, a rain-proof shawl, and a jacket but I was still cold. Then, right as the parade started, it stopped raining and was just cold, and cloudy. I was lucky enough to be near the front and when we came around the first corner, little kids were screaming "Horsies, Horsies!" and it was so cute! The farther we went down the road, the more people there were and when we reached Main Street we saw the biggest part of the crowd. There were a lot of people and all were smiling under their wet umbrellas and coats. I sure appreciated them all coming out in the rain and supporting us.
